Computer Science Camp at U-M Flint: FREE!

I was delighted to receive this message last week from Sharon Burch at U-M Ann Arbor. I hope that Flint parents and students will look into this and take advantage of this great opportunity.  Pass the word around!

Here’s the message…

I am hoping I can get your help. The CoE (College of Engineering) will conduct a one-week computer science camp in Flint this summer and we are reaching out for ways to make sure that students are aware of the opportunity. It targets students that will be juniors and seniors next school year. Students will be invited to participate on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no cost for students from the Flint area.

I am looking for information on any entities in the Flint area that serve youth (churches, community centers, scouts, etc.) that we might contact to publicize the camp. If you have good contact people, that would be really helpful also. We have sent info to the high schools but any additional insight would be appreciated. We have space for 40 and currently have 2 complete applications.

Attention rising high school juniors and seniors:
Do you like music?
How about technology?
What happens when music meets computer science?
From recording to sound generation and manipulation to live performances, computer science and technology drive innovation in music. This summer, experience the wonder and awe of computer science (CS) at the University of Michigan College of Engineering’s CS Summer Camp.  You will explore CS in the context of real world problems and applications through challenging, hands-on learning experiences in areas such as mobile application development, platform game development, and music-centric applications of CS.  A Monday through Friday day camp will be offered

July 29-August 2
on the
University of Michigan-Flint Campus
Applicants will be admitted on a  first-come, first-served basis.  There is no cost for Flint area students to participate.  No previous computer programming or software experience is necessary to apply or participate; all equipment, materials, lunch and snacks will be provided.
